Description
Up for bid is a fine late Victorian American porcelain vase with gilding and rose decoration, sadly unmarked. The vase is about 7 7/8 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide over the handles. It is double bellied in shape, with elaborate hollow pierced handles, heavily gilded. It has gilt decoration at the rim and center, with beautiful hand-painted pink roses on both sides of the body. It has a low flat unglazed foot and unglazed rim interior, showing a bright white smooth paste. There are no visible marks. It came from a collector of American porcelain in the Trenton area. It may be Greenwood.Condition on the piece is very good. It do not see any chips, cracks or repairs; if there are any restorations they are exceptionally well done. A fine piece of American porcelain.
