Gold leafed and hand painted washi paper with lacquered bamboo.
Front of fan features a carriage / flower cart and flowers (including peonies, mums, morning glories) on a metallic gold & red background.
Made in Kyoto, Japan -- Folding fans made in Kyoto (kyo-sensu), decorated with beautiful pictures, were a status symbol in the Imperial Court.
