Early Manganese Sponged Redware 9" Serving Bowl Stoneware

Description

Available for sale is an novel redware serving bowl.  The tapered bowl is glazed with a bright brick red coloration
& is decorated with three (3) large sponged areas in dark manganese.  The sponged decoration is also seen on the
brim & interior rim.  The bowl measures 4" in height, 9" in rim diameter, 6 3/8" in base diameter & dates from 1835 -
1865.  It is in excellent condition with a single 1/4" shallow flake on the top brim of the rim.  There are two very small
slivers
on the underside as well (see Pics).
