Description

You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts a German shorthaired pointer dog pursuing a woiunded rabbit hare, as the hunter watches from the distance. The hunter's shot has broken its leg, and it is the dog's job to now track it, kill it and retrieve it. From the markings, I believe it to be a German shorthair, rather than the more common (at the time) English pointer.
Also included with the print is a second page from the same journal with an 9-inch article. It is in French, but free computer translation programs make it easy to translate.
The caption reads:  L
e
lievre
a
la
patte
cassee
which roughly translates to:
the
Hare
has
broken
leg
The article is entitled the wounded hare (Le lievre blesse)
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a French caption below.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
