    Description

From the estate of a western Pennsylvania antiques dealer retired to Tucson during the 1990's is this I believe 19th century miniature redware / terra-cotta cream pitcher, this diminutive beauty with a rustically applied reddish orange and brown splashed glaze and distinctive side handled configuration. The mentioned dealer handled both old American redware and antique French country ceramics. I believe this an example of the former, having found some other Mid-Atlanitic / New England glazed vessels of similar configuration (though not in this size) so described on line. That said I'm willing to be schooled, so let me know if  I'm off. Condition is quite fine with a charismatic aura of time and service. Be aware I have done nothing to refresh or "improve" anything - you want that done, you do it. The surfaces have achieved "the look" and the base shows nice table wear - in this case  a good thing.  No chips or cracks or any hidden restoration.  My guess is you will have a long search for another like survivor in this condition.  A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition - for augmenting the look of a country kitchen or bringing back memories of a less complicated time as you sip that cup of Joe, this will improve things nicely. Size is about 2 in. vertical and 2 13/16 in. horizontal at the handle.
