    19th century or earlier Edo period fine quality Kakiemon 柿右衛門 Imari vase, bulbous in shape with scalloped flared rim, decorated with Houou birds 鳳凰 ほうおう, flowers and trees in shades of red and gilt highlight, very well-drawn motifs on rich cobalt blue with a purple hue, a few glaze frits and a barely visible expertly restored fingernail size nick. Signed in Kanji script Imari 伊万里 on the base.
