Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:
This is a beautiful redware bow made of unusual shape (we have been collecting and selling Foltz Redware Pottery for a long time and this represents the first one of this shape which we offered) in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of Southeastern Pennsylvania. It is rather substantial and weighs slightly over 1 pound and 11 ounces. A definite beauty deserving of a prominent spot in any redware collection.
Condition:
Bowl is in excellent condition. It has no chips, cracks, repairs, or hairlines. The piece has general signs of crazing to the glaze throughout that are very difficult to see due to the coloring of the bow, but are there. The piece has some of the common defects you would expect in primitive redware pieces such as pops, slubs, areas where the glaze did not fully flow, unglazed spots, and uneven spots. These are at a minimum in this piece. A beautiful and substantial piece by a great master potter. Please see photos for addition condition information.
